Introduction
Assets are the equipment and machinery that you create work orders for. Examples of assets are work centers, machines, buildings, and vehicles.

The main focus on the Mobile Client is work orders and assets.
Assets are the pieces of equipment and machinery that you create work orders for whenever maintenance or repair jobs are required.
As a maintenance worker, you work with the Mobile Client on a mobile device (mobile phone or tablet). On the Mobile Client you can do the following regarding assets:
- Get an overview of the assets you're working on
- View, edit, and create asset details:
- Work orders
- Requests
- Faults
- Maintenance downtime
- BOM
- Attachments
- Attributes
- Counters
- Event history
- Create your own lists for assets
Before you can start working on the Mobile Client, you must first sign in.
When you've signed in, you see the Mobile Client start screen.
- Select Work on the start screen.
- Select the Assets button in the bottom navigation bar to open the Assets lists screen, which is the main screen for working with assets.
- Select the 'Open main menu' button if you want to sign out of the Mobile Client app, or if you want to return to the Mobile Client start screen (select the company logo in the upper-left corner). You can also select another module on this screen. Depending on the Mobile Client setup, more modules than the two mentioned here may be available to you.

When you select an asset in the Downloaded assets list, or in a list that you created, various asset details are shown. You can add or edit registrations, or view asset details. Asset details are described in the articles below.
On the Asset lists screen, select a list, and select the asset you want to edit or view information about. In the figure below, you see an example of an asset.
In the Asset details section at the bottom of the screen, you may see numbers next to some detail pages, for example 2 or 5. This is for your information to show you there are, for example, 2 fault registrations or 5 work orders related to the asset. Regarding Attachments and Attributes, the number is shown as, for example 2/1. Regarding Attachments, "2/1" shows you there are two attachments and one asset document related to the asset. Regarding Attributes, "2/1" shows you there are two asset attributes and one functional location attribute related to the asset.
Asset details overview
Select the Update image link if you want to upload another image for the asset.
- The camera on your mobile device is activated when you select the link.
- Take a new photo and upload it, or select a new photo from your photo gallery.
Select Show notes to read or update asset notes.
Edit the notes as you require and select Close notes to save the them.
Select Work orders to see a list of the work orders related to the asset.
- Select the Active, Not Active, and Remote toggle buttons to see related work orders in the list:
- If the Active button is enabled, work orders which are active, as specified by the work order lifecycle state, are shown.
- If the Inactive button is enabled, work orders which are inactive, as specified by the work order lifecycle state, are shown.
- When the Remote button has a check mark on it, remote work orders are shown. These work orders aren't scheduled to you. When you select a remote work order, you download it on your Mobile Client, and it is shown in the Downloaded work list. If you want to schedule a remote work order, which you downloaded, to yourself, select the 'More' button and Schedule to me.
- On the Work orders screen, work orders are listed by date with the latest date at the top. The date shown is the Actual start date, and if that is not available, the Scheduled from date, and if that is not available, the Expected start date is used.
- On the Work orders screen, you can select a work order to open work order details and start working on the work order job, if required. Refer to the Work on a work order section for instructions on how to work on and complete a work order job.
- On the Work orders screen, you can select the 'Add' button in the upper-right corner of the screen to create a new work order for the asset. Refer to the Work order basics section for instructions on how to create work orders.
- If you select a work order job on the Work orders screen, the Work order job screen opens. On the Work order job screen, you can select the 'More' button and
- Add work order to create a new work order.
- Add related work order to create a work order related to the selected work order job.
Select Requests to see the maintenance requests created on the asset.
Select the Active, Not Active, and Work Order toggle buttons to see related requests in the list:
- If the Active button is enabled, requests which are active, as specified by the request lifecycle state, are shown.
- If the Inactive button is enabled, requests which are inactive, as specified by the request lifecycle state, are shown.
- When the Work Order button has a check mark on it, requests with a related work order a shown.

Select Faults to see the fault registrations created on the asset.
If you want to update a fault registration, refer to the Work on a work order section > Faults description.
Select Maintenance downtime to see the downtime registrations created on the asset.
If you want to update a downtime registration, refer to the Work on a work order section > Downtime registration.
Select BOM to view a list of the items used on the asset. If BOM items have related product images, the images are also shown.
Select Attachments to see the attachments related to the asset. You find two sections on the Attachments screen, Attachments and Asset documents.
- Asset documents are files that are related to the asset in Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations. Typically, they are set up on asset types, manufacturers, models, and maintenance job types. Examples are work instructions and safety instructions that you must read before you start working on a job on the selected asset.
- Attachments are files that are not related to the asset in the same way as asset documents. Examples are photos documenting repair jobs, or descriptions from colleagues with advice of how to work with a specific part of the asset in the most efficient way.
- Select an attachment in the list to download and read it.
- If required, select the 'Add' button in the upper-right corner of the screen to take a photo or add a file from your mobile device to the list of attachments.
Select Attributes to see the asset attributes and functional location attributes related to the asset. Depending on the Mobile Client setup, you might be able to add / edit / delete attributes.
To add an attribute
- Select the 'Add' button in the upper-right corner of the screen.
- Select Add asset attribute or Add functional location attribute.
- Select the attribute in the list, and select OK.
- Enter the appropriate value.
Select Counters to see a list of counter readings on the asset. You see the available counter types, for example, kilometers or production hours, at the top of the screen.
- Select the 'Add' button in the upper-right corner of the screen to add a counter registration on the asset.
- Enter the date of the counter registration.
- Enter the counter value in the Value field. The Total field is automatically updated.
- If you're replacing the counter with a new counter, select the Replaced toggle button (showing a dark blue color when selected).
- Select Submit to save the counter registration. Your registration is added to the Counters screen.
Select Event history to see a list of various registrations made on the asset.
