Introduction
Setup describes the tasks to be completed before you can use work permits in your maintenance department. Permits are added to work orders to ensure that maintenance work can be carried out in a safe way.
- Prerequisite
The Dynaway Safe Work module is installed in Asset management.
- Audience
-
Sysadmin, Maintenance Manager
The Permits functionality in Safe Work requires specific setup regarding license configuration.
- Select System administration > Setup > License configuration.
- Select Dynaway Safe Work.
- If Dynaway Safe Work does not have a check mark, an import of the license key is required.
- Ensure that the Permits > Permits for Asset Management check boxes are selected.
The Permit functionality in the Safe Work module comes with two security roles: Permits manager and Permits user.
The Permits manager is responsible for creating and managing permits on work orders. Privileges set up for the Permits manager role:
- Create and approve permits
- Change validity period on permits
- View permits
- View event history
The Permits user works on the work order. Privilege set up for the Permits user role:
- Edit active permits (related to the work order that the user is working on)
Refer to Microsoft Documentation to learn more about security configuration in D365FO: Security architecture.
You must set up a number sequence for automatic numbering when you create work permits.
- In Asset managment, select Setup > Safe work parameters.
- In Number sequences, select the Permit reference.
- Select a number sequence in the Number sequence code field.
A work permit is created for a work order. You can set up permit status validation on a work order lifecycle state to ensure that work on the work order is not started until the conditions described in the permit have been met. This means that an update to the lifecycle state is only possible if the related permit has status "Approved" or "Rejected".
Example: On work order lifecycle state "In Progress", you activate permit validation by selecting "Yes" on the Permit Status toggle button and selecting "Error" in the Type field.
Refer to Microsoft documentation to learn more about Work order lifecycle states in Asset management.
The screenshot below shows an example of Permit status activated on work order lifecycle state "In Progress".
